Buy me a drink and I’ll tell you a story

You know when you get drunk with your mates and say too much?

The conversation veers off in every direction.

Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s confessional and moving.

When you really kick back and can be yourself.

When the mask drops and you don’t care that they see you for who you really are.

What’s more — you’re glad it happened.

Maybe you’re not even out. Because who needs other people around when you have each other.

You’re sat at your friend’s kitchen table, late at night, and drink and talk until dawn.

You tell them everything.

Sometimes your voice is shaking.

Sometimes there’s a lull in the conversation, or you seem to change the subject, only to come back around hours later.

That’s how you should tell your story.
